Standard Tuning - $200
R
ecommended twice a year, a thorough and accurate tuning of your piano.

Pitch Raise Tuning - $225-$275
If your piano has not been tuned for some time, it is quite likely that the instrument is below pitch overall. Pitch raising requires multiple passes; first rough passes to bring up the pitch, and then a finer pass to refine the tuning. The lower the starting pitch the more work this requires.

less than 20 cents flat - no extra charge
20 to 49 cents - $225
50 to 99 cents - $250
beyond 100 cents - $275
What's a cent?  There are 100 cents between semi-tones. C to C# is one semi-tone or a half-step and the difference is equal to 100 cents.

A piano that is pitch raised may not be as stable and will sometimes need another tuning sooner than a regularly tuned instrument. Regular tuning of your piano eliminates the need for pitch raises and results in more stable tunings for your instrument.

Half Day or Full Day Service $350-$650
Is your piano not performing as well as you would like?

If your piano seems difficult to play, has uneven touch, doesnt sound as nice as you wish it did, there is a very good chance it can be improved, often substantially.

Many pianos, perhaps even most pianos are not operating as efficiently as they were originally designed to. People often do not realize that a piano, ina addition to being an expressive instrument, is also a machine with thousands of moving parts.
These parts largely consist of felt and wood and other non-stable materials that wear, compress and shrink/swell with humidity changes seasonally.
Given time, all pianos will gradually drift away from proper performance.
A half day or full day service appointment is a good way to make a significant improvement in yout instrument.
Ask me about it at your next tuning and I will be happy to assess your pianos needs and plan out what I can do to improve it.

Bass String Replacement
$90 for one string - $45 for additional bass strings - Entire bass section at $20/per string
Full restringing priced per job. Restringing is a large job and a good to time to assess whether or not other issues need to be addressed, such as pinblock replacement, plate refinishing, soundboard repair or replacement or maybe just a thorough cleaning while the strings are out of the way.
New bass strings will require two visits, one to take measurements and a second visit to do the replacement once I receive the strings from the string manufacturer.

Action Regulation
R
anging from $250 for minor regulation up to $1,500 for a full grand regulation.

Climate Control Systems
I
nstalling a climate control system can greatly increase the tuning stability of your piano and reduce wear on critical components such as the pinblock, bridges, soundboard etc.
I install Dampp-Chaser climate control systems. Vertical systems can be installed for $500, most grands for $600 and slightly more for large grands.

Hammer Reshaping
Over time piano hammers will develop  grooves where they've been striking the strings.
This will negatively affect your pianos voice and is also altering the alignment and adjustment of parts.
Shaping the hammers restores the strike surface of the hammer and improves tone.
This should usually go hand in hand with some voicing and at least some adjustment of action parts.

Voicing
The sound of your piano can be manipulated through the voicing process. The most important aspect of voicing is achieving consistency of tone from one note to the next.
Typically the felt of piano hammers becomes compressed over time and becomes hardened and harsh sounding. Needling can even out this condition by softening the felt of the hammer.

Key Rebushing - $500

Excessive side-to-side play in keys can develop over time causing a 'wobbly' feel to the keys. This is corrected by replacing the felt bushing cloth at the front of the key and at the balance rail (the point at which the key pivots).

Key Recovering
Pricing varies depending upon your choice of material and whether or not black keys are replaced as well.

Other Repairs - priced per job
I am happy to discuss with you any questions or concerns you may have about your piano. Some repairs and minor adjustments can be done during a regular tuning call.
